As great of workouts Elliptical Trainers are, and we may be biased here but we know the importance of switching up your routine is just as important when it comes to your fitness regimen. Today we have a guest post explaining one of the latest fitness crazes about to embark the world, Les Mills COMBAT. Read on to find out it if will fit your fitness needs:

Les Mills COMBAT- The Home Workout Based on BODYCOMBAT Classes

Les Mills COMBATIt’s been said before if you do something well you’ll never do it for free. Les Mills International does classroom group fitness exercise routines that get taught all over the planet in tens of thousands of gyms and Beachbody does in home DVD programs. When you put the two together you get some killer stuff. For example last year the two mega health companies collaborated together on their first project dubbed Les Mills PUMP and it’s been the best selling home workout program of 2012. And that’s with a whopping $180 price tag.

With the success of that workout program they’re back at it again, this time tackling a whole new genre to Beachbody that features mixed martial arts as its cornerstone. The new program based on the Les Mills BODYCOMBAT class is accurately named Les Mills COMBAT.

Les Mills COMBAT Combines Exercise & Nutrition

If it were as simple as just spending a couple hours each week working out we would all look a lot different. Unfortunately it’s not that easy and more often than not is for someone to workout quite a bit and see very little change.

This is why Les Mills COMBAT doesn’t just focus on exercise, but comes with a one-of-a-kind nutrition guide. This guide takes into account the types of exercises you’ll be doing each week over the course of two months and tailors an eating schedule to meet your bodies ever changing needs. The weeks you engage in more cardio, the nutrition guide compensates for that. The weeks you focus more so on building strength and muscle mass, the nutrition guide will adjust for that.

The mixed martial arts provided in Les Mills COMBAT is a hand selected blend of moves across the 6 major martial arts genres: boxing, kickboxing/muay thai, taekwondo, capoeira, karate, and jiu jitsu. The sequences in which these moves are put into combine together to give your body a unique workout that attacks the fast twitch muscle fibers. The “fast twitch” fibers are the ones that have the greatest potential to change in record time.

Should You Try Les Mills COMBAT?

Les Mills COMBATOnly you know what’s best for you, but this program is designed for a wide variety of exercisers, from beginners to advanced. It’s simply a matter of taste. Les Mills COMBAT should not be thought of as an easy program. It’s not low impact, so if you have a history of lower body aches and pains you might be best to avoid it. It’s also not a program that you’ll master in the first 60 days. You may need to go through it several times to get proficient at it. Therefore if you’re concerned about getting bored or burnt out on it, don’t be. There’s plenty room for growth and if this program ends up being anything like the class it’s based on, you’ll end up being a fan for life begging for more.
